English Language Challenges

Hi! Today is my last entry for this blog, and I will be talking about my experience learning English at Uni. Well, this was my first time taking the English class, and it’s kind of a boomer that it wasn’t face-to-face. The zoom classes were a little bit slow, and it was hard to participate sometimes. However, the blogs were actually really fun for me, because I don’t get to write much in English on a daily basis, and I still get confused sometimes with the English tenses, so, this was a super good practice!! Although, I struggled a lot to not pass the word limit. In terms of the aspects I would like to improve, I think my biggest problems are speaking fluently, and my pronunciation. It’s very hard for me to form sentences in my head when it’s my turn to speak, so what comes out of my mouth is often confusing to the listener. And, as for my pronunciation, I tend to speak really fast and that makes it worse lol And honestly, I have no idea how to improve haha. Mainly because I don’t ha...

Changes to my study programme

Hello! Today I’m going to talk about changes that I would do to my study programme/career. Currently I’m on my fourth year of Plastic Arts at the Universidad de Chile, and after all this time studying there, I’ve noticed some things that could be improved. Firstly, I think that in terms of curriculum, we should have a subject to teach us how to survive as artists after finishing the career. I remember that in second year we had a subject named Management of Artistic Projects, and they taught us how to apply for art funding contests, but I think that’s not enough for showing us how the real art world operates on a daily basis, especially if one wants to make a living by doing art. The other thing that is **urgent** is a rebuilt of the facilities. Honestly, I think it should be illegal for the Uni to have a Faculty like ours. There are so many unsafe installations. A few examples are: poorly-made electrical plugs, bad ovens of the ceramic workshop that could explode anytime, an...

Not really a *new* leisure activity

This painting is part of the "Antipaisaje como espacio liminal" series. Hello there! So, during this pandemic I haven't done much, apart from going to online classes. My mood has been really off, honestly. If I'm not doing Uni stuff I'm probably sleeping because I have little to no motivation to do anything else :(  But, one of my interests as an aspiring artist is doing digital art! This year I finally got to upgrade my graphic tablet, as I wasn't giving much use to my old one because it was working badly. So, when I bought a new one I started doing stuff again! This is a work in progress ehehe It's part of a little comic page I'm working on. As a traditional artist, I'm a painter, and my style is somewhat realistic (I think?), but with digital art I try to do illustration. Drawing is really challenging for me, so I don't really have a style yet, but I guess I'm influenced by comic and anime. I try to have fun with digital art, and I mostl...

My four legged friend

Her tongue often sticks out XD  Hi! Today I will be talking about my little grumpy dog! Her name is Amaranta, and she is the only pet I have had in my whole life. We got her when I was 8 or 9 years old. So, Amaranta is a Yorkshire Terrier, and she is 13 years old. My big sister named her like that because of a character of the novel  "Cien años de soledad"  by Gabriel García Márquez, and I've always thought that it's a bit long for a dog, but regardless, I find it to be a really cool name! She's always been kinda bad-tempered, specially with strangers. For example, if someone gets remotely close to us while taking a walk, she instantly gets super mad and starts to bark at them. And when she was younger, she often growled at us for no reason at all lol But I've noticed that as she grew old, she has changed, and she's not as cranky as she was a few years ago. This year, Amaranta has been through a rough time, firstly because she's going a little blind, a...

The best concert I've been to

Image
sadly, I lost all the photos I took of the concert :( this is the only one that survived Hi! Today, I'm gonna write about the best concert I've ever been, which is Korn in 2017. They performed at the Teatro Caupolicán, promoting the new album that they've just launched at the time. Korn is an american nu-metal band, formed in 1993 and it's composed by 5 members. They're considered pioneers of the nu-metal genre. I went to the concert with my -now ex- boyfriend and we arrived early, so we got to choose our places very close to the scenario. Then, when the band finally appeared, it seemed surreal, because I've been a fan of them since childhood. The atmosphere was simply chaotic (in a good sense) because we were all headbanging, jumping, screaming the lyrics as loudly as we could, and of course the mosh pit was insane. Being there was the best feeling ever, I think I've never felt so alive. The show was excellent, I have no words to describe how perfect they s...

A country that I would like to visit: Japan

Image
Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto Hi! Today I'm going to tell you about a country that I've been dreaming to visit since I was a kid, which is Japan! I'm very interested in East Asian countries and their cultures. In fact, I almost wrote this post about South Korea, since lately I've been very keen on their culture and I'm currently learning their language. But, my inner child told me otherwise, so, Japan it is. I would love to visit Japan firstly because of their beautiful landscapes, countryside and temples. It just blow my mind how magical these places look, I imagine that being there must feel like something really special and peaceful.  LOOK AT THEM!!!!! So cuteeeeee Also, I want to make a special mention to the city of Nara and their very large population of deers! It would be the ultimate dream to pet them while taking a walk through the Nara Park.  The other reason I want to travel to Japan so much, is because of their pop culture! I'm a big fan of videogames and...
